Cooking with Kids at East Hill Farm

Is there anything more gratifying than a family meal, where everyone sits around the table, discussing their day, and enjoying a home-cooked meal together? This simple, family staple is something that East Hill Farm encourages by serving meals for all of our guests at the same time and in a family-style manner. It is comforting to listen to the bustling sounds coming from the dining room at mealtimes. If you listen close, you will hear kids discussing what they did in the barn and parents giving a run down of what activities are on the schedule for the following day.

Cooking with Kids at East Hill FarmOne of the best parts about vacationing at East Hill Farm is the fact that you don’t have to cook these fantastic meals (or clean up after them). There is one exception to this rule! Join us for our annual Cooking with Kids Weekend, where kids are invited to get involved with the cooking! Please check the event calendar for this years date.  During the weekend, instructors from The Culinary Playground will teach children how to cook and help prepare a meal. Topics during the cooking classes include: kitchen safety, food preparation, measurements, and cooperation. The classes are divided into two age groups to ensure that the lessons are age-appropriate.

Cheese making at East Hill FarmFrom decorating chefs’ hats on Friday to making cheese on Sunday and every activity in between, the weekend is packed with food-oriented fun that is sure to be educational too.

Oh, what fun! Great idea to get kids interested in cooking, especially while on vacation – and giving parents a bit of a break too. Thanks for sharing.
