5 Top Activities to Accompany Your Farm Stay: Summer Edition
School is out and kids are excited to be on summer vacation. The air is warmer, the days last longer, and cool summer evenings host fireflies and backyard bonfires. Around the farm, we have horseback riding in full session, busy vacationers filling our rooms, and a lively recreation schedule. As new and returning guests visit our farm each week, they all take advantage of our on-property activities and opportunities in their own ways. Some guests also like to visit our local area to explore what our neck of the woods has to offer off-property as well.
Here is a list of our favorite summer spots:
1. Granite Roots Brewery
Saturday and Wednesday cocktail parties have you ready to sample other adult beverages? Granite Roots Brewery is a nano-brewery located right in Troy, New Hampshire about five minutes from the farm. They offer tastings in an intimate setting with a close-knit staff that are all involved in the actual brewing process. They craft traditional beers along with brews that have a hint of fruit from their family farm, Monadnock Berries. Love the tasting? Take home a growler to share with friends.
2. Bloomin’ Antiques & Knotty Pine Antiques
Love the rustic feel of the farm? Try antiquing for yourself! The Monadnock region is home to many antique stores, and there’s no better season to go antiquing than summer. Give your home a quaint, country feel with the unique pieces you find as you explore each place. Love what you found in these stores? Visit the office for our full list of antique shops.
3. Covered Bridge Tour
Want to explore the area from the comfort of your car? Check out our covered bridges. Appreciate the traditional New England landscape as you drive around our country back roads and explore the different covered bridges, each with a different design, purpose, and history. Ask the office for our tour map!
4. Hannah Grimes Marketplace
Want to shop locally? Visit Hannah Grimes Marketplace, where each product in the store is hand-made, hand-grown, and hand-selected. They encourage localvore shopping. Love your time at Hannah Grimes? Continue up and down Main Street in Keene to enjoy our other local shops as you sip coffee or tea from Brewbakers or Prime Roast.
5. The Shattuck Golf Course & Bretwood Golf Course
Does our view of the mountain have you hungry for more? Try one of these golf courses, where you can enjoy beautiful views while hitting the green. Both locations are locally known for their challenging courses. They also offer lessons and driving ranges. Still want the views without the golf? Shattuck now offers nature tours via golf cart!

Toadstool Bookshop of Keene!
I like East Hill Farm as a destination resort. Once I get there I don’t have to leave for anything unless I run out of wine..
