Barn News
Last updated December 1, 2008

Seems like summer is barley over and we are already seeing our first snowfall.  I guess that indicates that the fall season was very busy at the farm.

It was great to visit with our guests over Thanksgiving weekend.  We look forward to seeing you during the upcoming holiday season or at some time during the winter.

Winter on the farm is always a busy time.  Our faithful critters have moved from summer pastures into the barnyards where they have access to shelter when needed.  It creates a lot of work for our barn staff, but also allows us to spend more time with our animals.  We are anticipating a litter of piglets, a calf and lambs within the next couple of months.  Of course new bunnies will be arriving so you can pet your furry friends.

As I mentioned previously, we continue to work with Swiss Village Foundation to help preserve the Kerry cattle breed.  Three of our cows; Maple, Mabel and Sable are spending the winter in Newport, Rhode Island donating embryos to be frozen for breed preservation.  They will be back in the spring.

We are pleased to have Sarah rejoin our barn staff after being home with her new daughter Emma.  Sophie, Sarah and Adam with assistance from Matt, Kyle and Perri are caring for our animals and coordinating barn activities this winter.  Riding and lessons will be limited by weather conditions that Mother Nature gives us.  Pony rides can always be done inside the barn.  Don’t forget to plan for your Sleigh Ride in our winter wonderland.

All of us at the farm wish you a joyous holiday season.  Remember that family, friends and good health are our most precious gifts.

I'll see you along the way!

Barnyard Goal

Our goal at East Hill Farm is to provide an enjoyable, educational farm vacation for our guests.  To achieve this goal we strive to provide realistic farm related activities.  The farm activities scheduled may be adjusted a bit to accommodate meal times and other activities.  The daily farm chores including milking the cows and goats, are necessary functions to be accomplished each day, as they are done every day on the farms of professional farm operators throughout the country.

We hope that your visit to East Hill Farm will be most enjoyable and provide you with increased awareness and understanding of the importance of agriculture to our society.  Come and enjoy a real farm experience in a comfortable resort atmosphere. Click here for a link to our Conservation Practices.
